Glory Rock-Puppet Skit

Glory Rock-Puppet Skit

Themes: Being thankful in all situations; praising God no matter the circumstances; complaining vs. being thankful
Categories: Children
Summary:

When three friends sit around and do nothing but complain, the surrounding rocks can't take it anymore and decide to cry out.  The rocks point to the scripture that when God's people remain silent, even the rocks will cry out.  When one of the kids points out the fact that they weren't being silent, one of the rocks responds, telling her that sometimes complaining is worse than being silent.  The "glory rocks" as they are called, help the kids see the error of their ways, and give examples of how to be thankful, no matter what the situation.

Polly:

Seems like we're all having a bad day.

Jacob:

Why? What happened with you guys?

Stephanie:

My little sister got into my stuff.

Jacob:

Again?  She's such a pain!

Stephanie:

Tell me about it.

Polly:

And I didn't get the lead in the school play.

Jacob:

Why not? Everybody knows you're the best actress in the whole school!

Polly:

Apparently Ms. Johnson doesn't think so, and right now she's the only one who counts.

Jacob:

What are you going to do?

Polly:

I don't know.  I'm thinking of quitting.

Stephanie:

What a stinky day!

Jacob:

The worst!

Rock 1:

(heard from off stage) Are you guys gonna sit around and complain all day?

Jacob:

(looking around) Who said that?

Rock 2:

(from off stage) Complain! Complain! Complain!

Jacob:

(looking around again) Did you say that Stephanie?

Stephanie:

No, I didn't say anything!

Rock 3:

(from off stage) Boo, hoo, hoo!

Jacob:

Polly?  Is that you?

Polly:

How can it be me?  Did you see my lips move?

Jacob:

Well, if it wasn't you (indicating Stephanie) and it wasn't you, (indicating Polly) and I know it wasn't me....then who was it?

The Three Rocks enter

Rock 3:

It was us!

Stephanie and Polly look at the rocks, look at each other and then they both scream

Rock 1:

What's the matter?  Haven't you ever seen talking rocks before?

Polly:

No!  (stuttering) This....this....this is impossible!  You're a rock.

Rock 1:

(to Rock 2) She's very observant.

Stephanie:

But rocks can't talk.

Rock 1:

We can.

Stephanie:

How?

Rock 2:

We're glory rocks.

Jacob:

What's a glory rock?

Rock 2:

We give praise and glory to God when his people are silent.

Jacob:

(confused) What?

Rock 3:

Haven't you ever heard of that scripture? It says that if God's people are silent then even the rocks will cry out.

Jacob:

But we weren't silent.

Rock 3:

I know.  You were all complaining.

Rock 1:

And sometimes complaining can be worse than being silent.  We couldn't stand the complaining anymore so we had to cry out!
