Abigail asks Jesus for an interview not long after his crucifixion and miraculous resurrection, right before his ascension into heaven.  She feels the people, including herself, need to understand the emotions Jesus underwent during the most difficult period in his life.  As she recounts the events that happened, Jesus is candid and honest about what he experienced, ranging from the grief he felt at being betrayed to the joy of his resurrection. Abigail is baffled as to why Jesus would do these things willingly, but in the end she finally understands that through it all, his love was the driving force.

(Jesus enters from a side stage)

Jesus:             (extending a hand to shake) Hi.  You must be Abigail.

Abigail:             (rises and accepts Jesus. hand) Yes, I am.  I know you can't stay long so I don't want to keep you any longer than I have to.  Please, sit down and we'll get started. (they both sit)

 Jesus:             I appreciate that.

Abigail: First, thank you for agreeing to meet with me for this interview, Jesus.

Jesus:             You're welcome.  I suppose there are people who have a lot of questions about me, so I'm happy to answer anything I can.  Where would you like to begin?

Abigail:             Tell me about your last experience in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Jesus:             I went there to pray, as I often did.

Abigail:             But there was something different about your prayers that day.  Correct?

Jesus:             Yes.  It was nearing the time of the prophecy and my heart was very heavy.

Abigail:             (flipping through her notes) According to one of your disciples, you were quoted as saying, .My soul is overwhelmed to the point of death..

Jesus:             Yes, that would be an accurate depiction.

Abigail:             At this point, you knew what was about to happen to you?

 Jesus:             Yes.

Abigail:             But you did nothing to stop it?

Jesus:             I asked my father if there was any other way this could be done.

Abigail:             Yes, I remember hearing something about that.  (flips through her notes again) I have it right here: .My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me.  Yet not my will, but yours be done..  How did it make you feel to know your sentence would not be reversed?

Jesus:             My heart was filled with anguish.

Abigail:             (sympathetic) I can only imagine. Yet, you went willingly.

Jesus:             There was no other way.  Only harm could have come from my resistance.

Abigail:             What happened after you finished praying?

Jesus:             I turned to my friends.

Abigail:             And?

 Jesus:             They were sleeping.

Abigail:             (incredulous) So, there you were, about to face one of the most excruciating and difficult events in your life.  Sweat was pouring from your body like drops of blood; you were exhausted and emotionally drained.  You turn to your friends for support and instead of being greeted with an open arm, you were greeted with their listless bodies littering the garden, in a deep and peaceful sleep?

Jesus:             I'm afraid so.  It was hard for me to believe my eyes.

 Abigail:             Weren't you angry?

Jesus:             Grievous might be a better word.

Abigail:             But that wasn't the worst of it.  Was it?

 Jesus:             No.

Abigail:             In fact, one of those closest to you later denied even knowing you.

 Jesus:             Yes.

Abigail:             And another betrayed you by turning you over to the very religious leaders who were intent on harming you.

Jesus:             Yes.

Abigail:             These men who daily walked with you, talked to you, worked side by side with you, confided in you, and befriended you'they were the ones who betrayed you?

 Jesus:             They were.

 Abigail:             And your heart..?

 Jesus:             Broke.

Abigail:             But you still love them?

 Jesus:             To this day.
