Stolen Moments-Drama Skit

Stolen Moments-Drama Skit

Themes: Stealing; ways people don't realize they are stealing; respecting the work place, making the best use of your time
Categories: Topical
Summary:

Based on Exodus 20:15 "Thou shalt not steal," this skit reflects ideas and ways in which people "steal" without realizing it.  Max Rensen is a normal church going guy, but he wonders what's going on when his guardian angel calls him in to chat about his "thieving" ways.  Max claims he's no thief, until he's reminded of all the times he skipped out on work early while still getting paid, kept the extra change from store clerks, and even the ways he "stole" time from his wife! Max's eyes become opened as he realizes you don't have to steal possessions to be a thief.

Angel: (looking at a clipboard) Next! Max Rensen, come in please.

(Max enters)

Max: Who are you?

Angel: Max, I'm your guardian angel.

Max: Oh. (not impressed) I'm the tooth fairy. Nice to meet you. (extends his hand)

Angel: This is serious. You're in a lot of trouble, Max and I'm here to help you.

Max: I'm on Candid Camera or something, right? (looks around for cameras and starts waving and talking into them) Hey Dave, are you in there?

Angel: Dave's not here, Max.

Max: Right, he's probably across the street watching on a monitor or something. (yells) Come out, come out wherever you are!

Angel: Max, this is not joke. Have a seat.

Max: (sitting) Who are you?

Angel: I told you, I'm your guardian angel.

Max: Where are your wings?

Angel: This is not about me, Max. This is about you. Now, this Sunday your pastor is preaching on stealing...

Max: (ignoring her) Are you that lady from the cookie commercial?

Angel: (getting annoyed) No, I told you I'm an angel and I'm here to help you. (sits) As I was saying, your pastor is doing a sermon this week on stealing.

Max: Yeah, I heard something about that. I wasn't planning on going.

Angel: I know. That's why you're here. I'm supposed to convince you to attend.

Max: But why? It doesn't apply to me.

Angel: Yes, it does.

Max: No, it doesn't. I don't steal stuff.

Angel: Actually, you do.

Max: Are you saying I'm stealing cars and t'v.'s and don't even know it? That may explain why I've been so tired lately.

Angel: I'm not saying you're stealing cars.

Max: Well, I don't remember robbing any banks lately either, so what is it that I'm supposed to be stealing?

Angel: Time.

Max: (skeptical) Time? (sarcastic) Oh, now I remember, that's why my garage is so full.it's crammed with all that time I've been stealing! (laughs)

Angel: This is serious, Max. If you'd cooperate, this whole thing would go a whole lot easier.
